Thursday, June 11th was a great night of food and fun at Subaru of Plano. They were honored with the opportunity to give back to the great Plano community and host an event raising funds and awareness for a great local cause, the North Texas Food Banks local initiative: Food 4 Kids Plano.
In addition to the professionals at Subaru of Plano, many local customers and friends were in attendance, and even the Mayor of Plano himself, Mayor Henry LaRosiliere attended the event. Mayor Henry began his term in office in 2013 and has a strong focus on creating a vibrant business community, revitalizing neighborhoods and delivering quality services to Plano citizens. One of the Council’s key initiatives to inspire youth, and through the Food 4 Kids – Plano program an unprecedented number of underserved youth in Plano are being provided backpacks of food every weekend as a result of the outpouring from the community at large.
Over $15,000 was raised to go to Food 4 Kids Plano which will provide over 3,000 meals to Plano’s youth!
The North Texas Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids program provides weekly backpacks to children showing signs of chronic hunger. This past school year only 32 of the 50 Plano ISD’s early childhood and elementary schools participated in the Food 4 Kids backpack distributions from the NTFB. Beginning this September an expanded program to all 50 schools will ensure that all 1,800 eligible children will receive weekly backpacks.
