Redesigned from the ground up
Redesigned from the ground up, the 2014 Subaru Forester is building on its reputation for capability, reliability, practicality and longevity. The small SUV offers standard features such as fuel-efficient all-wheel drive, with an estimated 26 mpg overall and 35 highway, more interior room with 3.1 extra inches of legroom in the back seat and an increase of 9% bringing the total stow space to 74.7 cubic feet. Other standard features include a power lift gate and the best view of any SUV thanks to the addition of larger windows and doors. The best part is that the Forester still remains very affordable and fits almost anyone’s budget.
The technology behind the Forester’s great fuel economy
When Subaru set out to design the new Forester, it was important to keep a “green” mind, so they introduced the new continuously variable transmission (CVT). The new CVT was installed to replace the less fuel-friendly four-speed automatic transmission giving the Forester its edge over other small SUVs in fuel economy. The 5-speed manual transmission has also been updated to a more efficient 6-speed manual transmission. All Foresters are powered by the legendary Subaru Boxer engine, known for its performance and power.
